Chrome Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 26, 2026
This policy applies to the Sonar ASO Chrome extension. For the main Sonar web application, see our general privacy policy.
What Data the Extension Accesses
Tab URLs: The extension reads the URL of your active tab only when you visit apps.apple.com or play.google.com. The URL is parsed locally in your browser to extract the app identifier (e.g. "com.example.app"). No browsing history is collected or stored.
API key: If you connect a Sonar account, your API key is stored in Chrome's built-in sync storage. It is sent to the Sonar API to authenticate requests for paid features.
What Data We Do NOT Collect
- No browsing history or activity outside App Store / Google Play pages
- No personal information (name, email, etc.)
- No analytics, telemetry, or tracking
- No data is sold or shared with third parties
How Data Is Used
App identifiers extracted from tab URLs are sent to the Sonar API (trysonar.app) to fetch ASO insights such as optimization scores, keywords, and suggestions. This is the sole purpose of the extension.
Data Storage
The only data persisted by the extension is your API key, stored in Chrome's sync storage. No other data is saved to disk. You can remove the API key at any time through the extension popup.
Permissions Explained
